(April 2, 2002 - Hong Kong) - Ngai Lik Industrial Holdings Limited ("Ngai Lik" or "the Group"; stock code: 332), the leading EMS player in the industry, is pleased to announce the groundbreaking ceremony of a new industrial estate at Qingyuen in order to further increase production capacity and enhances its cost control strategy.
The new industrial estate which focuses on assembly production for EMS products is in its first phase of development located at Qingyuen with a site area of 3 million square meters. The construction cost of the first phase of the plant is around HK$20 million. 10 production lines will be added and the production capacity will be increased by 10% in one year. Production will commence in July 2002, which synchronizes with the production schedule for the peak season in Christmas.
Mr. Lam Man Chan, Chairman of the Group explained, "The reasons that we chose Qingyuen as our new base for production is its low labour and administration cost which is in-line with our strategy of effective cost control. With the commencement of this production plant in July, the production capacity of EMS assembly production will increase by 10%. Keeping up with the recovery of the US economy, the order from Wal-Mart recorded a double-digit growth this year.
