Dr. Hari Naroomal HARILELA GBS OBE JP, joined the Group in 2004. He is the Chairman of the Harilela Group and received the distinguished honour of Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) from Her Majesty, the Queen of the United Kingdom in 1979. In the year 2000, Dr. Harilela was awarded the "Gold Bauhinia Star"(GBS) by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region ("HKSAR"). Both these honours were given in recognition of his distinguished public service, particularly for his service to trade and to the Indian community in Hong Kong. He was conferred with Honorary Doctorate of Laws degree by Pepperdine University and the St. John's University, U.S.A. bestowed upon him the Honorary Doctorate in Commercial Sciences. He is a member of the Board of Regent, Pepperdine University and a Honorary Court Member of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Dr. Harilela was a Member of the Consultative Committee for the Basic Law of the HKSAR in 1985. Dr. Harilela is also the Hong Kong Affairs Advisor to the People's Republic of China and Advisory Council of the Hong Kong Red Cross.
